Lyudmila, born Olga Pryashnikova, was a nun at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk when it was attacked by an anti-Christian neo-Nazi.
The Nazi murdered her and a parishioner, Vladimir Zaporozhets and wounded several other parishioners, and also damaged the cross and the icon.
