Reverend Simmons was a 74 year old grandfather who lod weekly Bible study and helped his church establish a housing ministry and a hot meal problem for those in need.
He was murdered in a political terror attack. According to the killer's manifesto, the death was ultimately directed by an anti-American organization called the "Council of Conservative Citizens". The killer is on Federal death row, and now appealing it on the grounds that he was too stupid to avoid falling for CCC propaganda. Unfortunately, the leadership of the CCC remains at large.
