Anastasia Yeschenko

November 8, 2019

Anastasia was a French history researcher in St. Petersburg.

She was shot and dismembered by her co-author, a board member of the "Institute of Social, Economic and Political Sciences". ISSEP was an extreme-right private college in France. Other members of the college board include Marion Maréchal Le Pen (Front National/National Rally, director of the college) and Breitbart London editor Raheem Kassam. Anastasia's killer does not deserve to be named.

The killer had a history of abusive behaviour towards the students he was having sex with. The accusation that he tied a girlfriend to a chair, beat her, and threatened her with an iron apparently didn't disqualify him from a leadership position at ISSEP. Maybe they didn't do background checks?

In the end, the most notable thing about the killer wasn't his outsized ego. It was how he was caught. After the arms he was throwing into the river failed to sink, he got in the water himself and then couldn't get back out.
